What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Lead the Way Teacher position at Global Educational Excellence?
PRIMARY DUTY
To provide classroom instruction for Project Lead the Way (PLTW) courses. Facilitates collaborative student-led teams, creates innovative lessons, is committed to STEAM/STEM education, and maintains an overall enthusiasm and passion for project and problem-based learning with real world applications in which students actively engage. Ensures all students acquire the course level objectives set forth in the PLTW Curriculum.

This position requires travel between two GEE Academies, Global Tech Academy (K-8) - Ypsilanti, MI and Pittsfield Acres Academy (K-5) - Pittsfield TWP/Ypsilanti, MI.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Must be available for extensive training (approx. 100 hrs.) during June and July in order to become certified to teach selected courses. [Training is paid for and a daily attendance stipend will be paid]
- Prepares course objectives and outlines for course of study following curriculum guidelines and requirements of PLTW, state, and school.
- Facilitates collaborative student teams, assigns lessons and projects and provides students with positive feedback and constructive criticism.
- Administers assessments to evaluate student’s progress, record results, and issues reports or conducts meetings to inform parents of progress.
- Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
- Maintains discipline in the classroom.
- Keeps attendance records.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate working relationships by actively communicating with teacher colleagues and parents.
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, mentor program and teacher training workshops.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Maintains a physically and aesthetically attractive classroom setting and exercises proper care of academy equipment.
- Performs additional tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS
Satisfactory criminal background check required, per state requirements
Must hold requisite certification/licensure
Strong facilitator of student learning in collaborative and problem-solving environments
Must hold requisite PLTW certifications, or be willing to be trained
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with students, faculty and administration.
Knowledge in the use of all PLTW related software programs.
Physical Requirements:
Employee must be capable of performing physical demands of the job, including but not limited to lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, and standing for long periods of time. Work environment has a raised noise level.
