Global Emergency Response and Assistance (GERA) is dedicated to protecting human rights and restoring the dignity, well-being, and safety of individuals affected by conflicts. We provide aid and assistance to refugees, new arrivals in host countries, and internally displaced persons, supporting their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
Job Summary
The Case Worker will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to individuals and families affected by conflicts, including refugees and internally displaced persons. This role involves assessing client needs, developing case plans, coordinating services, and advocating on behalf of clients to ensure they receive the necessary support and resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of clients’ needs, strengths, and challenges to develop individualized case plans.
- Case Management: Develop, implement, and monitor case plans in collaboration with clients, ensuring goals are met and services are coordinated effectively.
- Service Coordination: Connect clients with appropriate services, including housing, healthcare, education, employment, and legal assistance.
- Advocacy: Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure they receive the necessary support and resources, and to address any barriers they may face.
- Support and Counseling: Provide emotional support and counseling to clients, helping them to navigate their experiences and build resilience.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, including assessments, case plans, progress notes, and other relevant documentation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other GERA staff, volunteers, and partner organizations to coordinate services and support for clients.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Ensure services are provided in a culturally sensitive manner, respecting the diverse backgrounds and experiences of clients.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate assistance and support in crisis situations, including safety planning and referrals to emergency services.
Qualifications
- Education: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in case management or a related field, preferably within a non-profit or humanitarian organization.
- Skills:
- Strong assessment and case management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Language: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages relevant to the client population, such as Dari, Pashto, or Urdu is an asset.
