POSITION SUMMARY:
The Warehouse Associate plays a vital role in the efficient operation of the warehouse, utilizing forklift expertise to assist in various warehouse tasks. This position involves a combination of forklift operation, material handling, and general warehouse duties to ensure the smooth flow of goods and materials safely within the facility.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and proficiently to move, stack, pick, put-a-way, load, and unload materials as needed.
- Transport goods to and from designated storage areas, production lines, loading docks, or trucks, adhering to established safety protocols and procedures.
- Assist in receiving, unpacking, inspecting, and storing incoming shipments, verifying quantities and quality of materials received or donated.
- Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in fulfilling requests.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks on forklifts and other equipment, reporting any issues or malfunctions to supervisors promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the warehouse, including sweeping floors, organizing inventory, and disposing of waste materials.
- Collaborate with warehouse team members to prioritize tasks, coordinate workflows, and meet operational deadlines effectively.
- Assist in inventory management activities, including cycle counts, stock replenishment, and inventory reconciliation as required.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, including proper handling of hazardous materials and compliance with OSHA standards.
Job Requirements
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Proven ability to operate various types of forklifts, including sit-down, stand-up, and reach trucks, with precision and safety.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management principles, and safety protocols.
- Physical stamina and endurance to perform repetitive tasks, lift heavy objects, and work in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Speaks English
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Flexibility to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends as needed especially when GEM responds to a disaster or relief effort.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with additional hours during relief or disaster response activations.
- Works in a warehouse or distribution center environment, which may include exposure to loud noises, dust, and fluctuating temperatures.
- Travel: Occasional travel for meetings, conferences, events, or disaster response may be required.
- OSHA Standards: Lifting requirements up to 75 pounds; loads heavier than 75 pounds require two or more individuals for lifting.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
