What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Director, Fund Accounting position at Global Endowment Management?
Mission Statement
The Associate Director provides leadership and oversight for Fund Accounting teams, ensuring high-quality training, review, and development of junior professionals, including Managers and Senior Accountants. He or she has deep relationships with third party service providers, such as counterparties, custodians, and third-party administrators. Expected to be autonomous and independent with full ownership the monthly close process and all its related tasks.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversight of monthly and quarterly close process for all GEM portfolios, including review of junior accountants assigned portfolios and controls processes
- Review generated monthly and quarterly deliverables for investors
- Oversight of accounting systems and key vendor relationships
- Oversight of portfolio activity and accounting, including monthly / quarterly NAV review, capital calls and distributions, fund expense allocations and portfolio rebalancing execution
- Audit requests
- Special projects, as needed
Qualifications
- 8 years of relevant experience
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with strong academic credentials and record of achievement
- Advanced Excel and other Microsoft Office skills
- Power user of team software and tools, including managing upgrades, updates, and/or enhancements
- Advanced knowledge of system interdependencies
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, and performance measurement principles
- Proven ability to produce high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
