We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) specializing in naval power and energy systems. This is a contract-based, part-time position with some travel required as needed. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of the design, manufacturing, and integration of critical electrical components for naval vessels, including power distribution systems, electric propulsion, and submarine power systems. This position requires expertise in systems integration, power distribution, and control systems for military-grade applications, with a focus on shipboard systems and submarine electrical solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert guidance on optimizing manufacturing processes for power distribution systems, including naval switchboards, load centers, power panels, and electric propulsion systems used in naval vessels.
- Review and recommend improvements in the design and manufacturing of critical power systems, ensuring compliance with military specifications and standards for reliability, shock resistance, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) compliance.
- Offer strategic insights into power conversion, electrical protection, and power control systems used in surface ships and submarines. Assist in enhancing manufacturing processes for submarine power systems, including electrical distribution and control.
- Provide subject matter expertise in the integration of mission-critical subsystems, including machinery control, navigation, and aviation systems, for naval vessels and submarines.
- Offer recommendations for quality checks, audits, and compliance measures to meet relevant military specifications.
Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience in the manufacturing and integration of electrical systems, with a strong focus on naval or defense applications.
- Expertise in power distribution systems, electrical conversion, and control systems for naval vessels, submarines, or other military-grade platforms.
- In-depth knowledge of military specifications, including EMI compliance, shock resistance, and reliability standards.
- Proven experience in system integration for mission-critical subsystems
- Strong understanding of electronic components such as connectors, relays, sensors, and cable assemblies.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice, optimize manufacturing processes, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to travel as required for project needs.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with autonomous maritime systems or unmanned marine assets is a plus.
- Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies for process optimization.
Clearance Requirement:
- Candidates will be required to undergo a background check. Prior possession of a Secret Clearance is preferred.
