What are the responsibilities and job description for the Freight Broker position at Global Expedited Transportation Freight?
Overview:
The Freight Broker at GET Freight’s is responsible for all aspects of strategically sourcing of capacity for an assigned account(s) and will act as an advocate for the customers supply chain to the carrier community in the marketplace on behalf of GET Freight.
Through developing new and existing carrier relationships, the Freight Broker will work with each Operation Manager to discover, develop, and implement solutions that meet/exceed internal growth expectations and external service/value add/client satisfaction expectations.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and a proven track record of success in the freight brokerage industry
Responsibilities:
- Proactively communicate with customers ensuring their needs and concerns are thoroughly understood and addressed.
- Organize the pickup and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate and manage the transportation of goods from origin to destination, ensuring timely delivery.
- Address service concerns and proactively develop processes to prevent reoccurring issues.
- Work to convert spot and inconsistent lanes into dedicated lanes for the customer; the goal is to build a strong base of volume and capacity
- Negotiate competitive freight rates with carriers.
- Work to secure the best rates for both the client and the carrier.
- Ensure that shipments meet deadlines and any specific requirements.
- Coordinate with drivers, dispatchers, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure that all necessary paperwork (e.g., bills of lading, contracts, and insurance) is completed accurately.
- Track and maintain records of shipments, invoices, and payments.
- Address and resolve any issues that arise during the transportation process, such as delays or damage to goods.
- Provide customer support and communication throughout the process
- Track shipments and update clients on the status and expected arrival times.
- Ensure that shipments are compliant with regulations and safety standards.
- Ensure that all freight operations comply with industry regulations, including safety standards, permits, and insurance requirements
- Build capacity and provide pricing for RFPs, projects, and mini-bids
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the brokerage’s efficiency and profitability.
- Prepare and present reports to clients or management as needed.
- Facilitate Customer Onboarding by establishing SOP’s, setting communication expectations, and ensuring a smooth transition.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business and logistics preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Proven experience in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of Drayage, Intermodal and trucking supply chain management.
- Ability to drive change and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
