What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at Global Force USA?
Employee is responsible for operating motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds up to 26,000 pounds to include passenger shuttle vans (10-20 passenger capacity), cargo vans and 30- to 40- passenger buses. These vehicles may be equipped with air brakes. Vehicles
are driven for long and short distances to transport and pick-up articles, supplies, materials, and passengers. Vehicles are sometimes driven through congested areas where drivers must exercise caution when backing to load or unload at docks, ramps, or similar locations. The incumbent assures that cargo is properly located, distributed, and secured, and: that vehicle is not loaded
beyond capacity. On occasion may operate special equipment such as manual winches and tie� downs. Responsible for operator maintenance, inspection, and recordkeeping. Major maintenance problems are brought to the supervisor's attention.
Incumbent is responsible for other transportation and cargo services related duties such as assisting fleet manager or dispatcher with transportation requests; data collection of vehicle mileage, passenger traffic, and vehicle maintenance scheduling; stocking warehouse shelves and assisting with recordkeeping.
Technical Requirements
Experience Requirements:
Capable and willing to communicate to, work with, and counsel male and female student ages 16 to 24 years old. Staff must have the interest, desire, experience and ability to work effectively with unemployed and disadvantaged youth from various. economic and social backgrounds without regard to race, creed, color, sex or national origin.
Skill in motivating students from diverse backgrounds who have various degrees of interest in learning the subject.
Safety Requirements
The Contractor shall be responsible for enforcing all safety rules and regulations in accordance with existing Forest Service and OSHA requirements related to personnel, facilities and equipment.
The Contractor must meet OSHA safety requirements applicable to Contractor-furnished and Government-furnished equipment.
The Contractor will regularly monitor the assigned areas for safety hazards and submit work orders for any needed repairs or maintenance. Operates government vehicles to transport students to and from off-site activities. Requires current state issued drivers license and insurability.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The supervisor provides continuing or individual assignments by indicating generally what is to be done, limitations, deadlines, and priority of assignments. The supervisor provides additional, specific instructions for new, difficult, or unusual assignments including suggested work methods or advice on source material available.
The employee uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments in dependently without specific instructions, but refers deviations, problems, and unfamiliar situations not covered by instructions to the supervisor for a decision or help.
The supervisor assures that the finished work and methods used are technically accurate and in compliance with instructions or established procedures. Review of the work increases with more difficult assignments if the employee has not previously performed similar assignments.
