Overview
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various types of forklifts and material handling equipment to facilitate the efficient movement of goods within our warehouse or distribution center. This role is crucial in ensuring that shipping and receiving operations run smoothly, contributing to overall productivity and safety.
Responsibilities
- Operating the Fork Lift & Reach Truck: Safely navigating the reach truck through warehouse aisles, accurately positioning forks to pick up and place pallets on storage racks at various heights.
- Loading and Unloading Trucks: Efficiently loading and unloading incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring proper handling of goods to prevent damage.
- Inventory Management: Verifying product codes and quantities on pallets to ensure accuracy during picking and stocking processes.
- Order Fulfillment: Selecting specific items from pallets based on customer orders and placing them in designated areas for further processing.
- Maintaining Stock Levels: Rotating inventory to ensure proper stock rotation and prevent product damage
- Performing Inspections: Checking the equipment for operational readiness, including fluid levels, tire pressure, and safety features to ensure safe operations.
- Adhering to Safety Protocols: Follow all warehouse safety procedures and regulations to insure a safe work environment, while operating machinery and handling materials.
Requirements
- Equipment Operator Experience: Proven skills as a machine operator within a warehouse or distribution center environment. Ability to operate various types of reach trucks, forklifts, and order pickers.
- Work Experience: Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes, order picking, and inventory management systems.
- Basic math skills: Ability to accurately count and calculate quantities of goods.
- Physical Fitness: Capability to lift and maneuver heavy pallets, with good hand-eye coordination for heavy lifting and standing for extended periods of time.
- Attention to Detail: Precisely positioning equipment to avoid damaging products or racking system, with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Strong Work Aptitude: Following established procedures and completing tasks with minimal supervision. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Certifications: Valid machine operator certification is preferred, but not mandatory; training may be provided for qualified candidates.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Weekends as needed
