Job Title: Security Officer-Bicycle Patrol
FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt
General Definition:
Responsible for the safety and well-being of team members and guests. Patrols parking lots and adjacent areas. Provides a deterrent to crime.
Supervision Received: Security Supervisor
Supervision Exercised: Indirectly leads less experienced patrols
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for the safety and well-being of team members and guests
- Gives directions and provides escorts to guests in need
- Patrols on bicycle or on foot parking lots and adjacent areas
- Provides visible deterrent to crime
- May interview persons and investigate breeches in security
- Provides assistance to law enforcement
- Prepares security incident reports and accident reports
- Enforces internal security policies and procedures
- Performs other duties that may be assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to work effectively with peers, staff members and regulatory agency personnel
- Strong customer service orientation
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Ability to problem solve in a variety of situations where limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Ability to safely operate a bicycle in a variety of climates and weather conditions
- Ability to speak clearly and de-escalate situations when needed
- Knowledge of basic state laws pertaining to private security
- Ability to work around horses or livestock
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays
Training and Experience:
- Experience in security, military or law enforcement preferred
Licenses/Certifications/Other:
- Current CLEET phase 4-armed license or the ability to obtain license within 90 days of hire
- CPR, first aid, AED certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 90 days of hire
- Must be able to complete pre-employment drug test with a negative result
- Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency, if applicable to perform the essential job functions
Physical Requirements:
- Strength:
- Stand, sit and walk consistently
- Will be required to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs and push, pull, or drag up to 100 lbs.
- Movement:
- Requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking or biking; requires mobility, eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity
- Must be able to step, bend, climb, crawl and reach in all directions with hands and arms
- Will consistently be required to touch, feel, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, reach
- Will use office equipment
- Auditory:
- Frequently speak and articulate
- Frequently hear
- Noise levels will be varied from light to moderate
- Visual
- Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus with or without corrective lenses
- Environmental:
- Must be able to work in fast paced, smoke filled casino environment
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
- Must be able to tolerate various climates and temperatures, including outside weather conditions or indoor climate-controlled environments
- Moderate exposure in close proximity to horses
- The employee may be exposed to the risks associated in attempting to resolve issues with extremely irate or difficult guests or staff members
