Description
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for all of the removal of debris and manure from the stalls in the receiving barn.
- Ensure that the wash racks are hosed out and cleared of any trash and debris.
- Maintain the area around the hot walker used for the receiving barn, including raking the path beneath it.
- Report any observations of mis-use of the stalls or any other area of the receiving barn to the stall superintendent.
- Ensure the stalls have suitable bedding for incoming horses before race nights.
- Keep the shed rows in the receiving barn free of debris, manure and maintain a raked appearance.
- Report any malfunctioning of stall gates, walker arms, or any other part of the receiving barn to the Stall Superintendent.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Completion of high school diploma or GED
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of safely cleaning stalls and working around horses
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to understand the needs of barn area maintenance, including the importance of cleanliness
- Prior experience in a barn area preferred
- Work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to recognize, analyze and solve a variety of problems
- Demonstrate ability on completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
- Ability to be resourceful to aid in horsemens requests
- Ability to work a flexible and irregular schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment
- Ability to work safely around horses
Training and Experience:
- Must be able to pass Title 31 Training
- 1-2 years working in a barn or livestock setting preferred
Licenses/Certifications/Other:
- Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency if applicable to perform the essential job functions
Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug test with a negative result
