Description
General Definition:
- The Suites Captain coordinates the general operation of Suites activities in accordance with customer needs, company events and operational flow.
Essential Job Functions:
- Helps oversee and facilitates all Suites activities, and group events during live racing seasons as directed.
- Continuously monitors Suites activities on all levels. Immediately addresses concerns as they arise.
- Ensures employees are properly oriented to the organization in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensures new and rehired employees are trained on operational procedures and quality standards, policies, customer service expectations, and knowledge of food and beverage items and prices.
- Responsible for follow-up with customers to ensure all special requests are met.
- Assists with daily closing of each Suites level.
- Ensures inventory counts are accurately conducted and recorded at the end of each month.
- Constantly encourages teamwork, professionalism and creativity among staff.
- Maintains proper inventory par levels in accordance with departmental policies.
- Interacts with personnel and the general public in a professional, ethical manner.
- Contributes to a positive work environment by participating in company and/or employee events and activities.
- Works hours necessary to insure customer satisfaction, which may include long hours and/or remaining on-call for problem solving purposes.
- Remains on duty until live racing or other entertainment is concluded and assists in executing special events as needed.
- Dependability, good attendance, and occasional overtime required.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as scheduled.
- Have the ability to accomplish a multitude of duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or GED; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or combination.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Have working knowledge of beer, wine and liquor and common drink recipes.
- Excellent customer service and communications skills required. Ability to apply common understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardize situations.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Capacity write simple correspondence and possess basic mathematical skills.
- Outgoing personality and positive attitude.
- Strong knowledge of bar operations, service procedures and function.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to handle money and operate a cash register quickly and efficiently.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
- Possess honesty and integrity.
- Have good memory when handling multiple orders.
- Ability to listen well, communicate effectively and follow instructions.
- Excellent communication skills required. Bilingual skills helpful, but not required.
- Ability to interact positively with customers, employees and management personnel.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and be flexible.
- Ability to work as part of a team and with constant interruptions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Training:
- Five years of bartending experience required.
Licenses/Certifications/Other:
- Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency if applicable to perform the essential job functions
- Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission License (TABC)
- Serve-safe certified (Food Handlers)
