PCA / Personal Care Assistant
East Granby, CT
Duties:
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Prepare and serve meals according to dietary restrictions and preferences
- Monitor and document patient's health status and report any changes to the healthcare team
- Assist with medication reminders and administration under the supervision of a nurse or healthcare professional
- Provide companionship and engage patients in recreational activities
- Ensure the safety and well-being of patients at all times
- Maintain a clean and organized environment for patients
Requirements:
- Willingness to obtain CPR, First Aid within 30 days of hire.
- Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, dementia, or other special needs
- Knowledge of patient care techniques and best practices
- Familiarity with assisting patients with ADLs
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a healthcare team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
- Ability to adapt to different patient needs and preferences
- Valid driver's license (if required for home care assignments)
- High school diploma or equivalent
