The Smithsonian’s National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute invites applications for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to independently develop a framework that will ensure credibility and transparency for the emerging Biodiversity Credit Market. This position offers a unique opportunity to help shape future conservation efforts worldwide. The successful candidate will conduct independent, peer-reviewed research that will contribute to this initiative.

This is a 12-month, full-time, in-residence position starting in Spring 2025, with a stipend of $62,000 per year. The deadline to apply is January 15, 2025, and applications should be submitted to Dr. T. Mitchell Aide at mitch.aide@gmail.com.

Requirements :

  • PhD in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Environmental Policy, Environmental economics, or related field.
  • Proven ability to synthesize literature across ecological and conservation science.
  • Strong writing and communication skills; fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.
  • Candidates with experience or interest in policy-relevant research (e.g. REDD or Payments for ecosystem services (PES)) are strongly encouraged to apply.
