Establish effective rapport with students, motivate students to develop skills, great attitudes and content knowledge. Under supervision of the Principal (designee or other appropriate administrator), provide quality services to special education students in a public school setting, through a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation to general education staff.

We are looking for someone who knows:

  • How to maintain accurate and complete student records, and prepare reports on children and activities, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Monitor student progress, participate in review and revision of IEP, as appropriate.
  • Provide support for ESE student achievement in the general class through training teachers and assisting with implementation of school inclusion plans.
  • Design instruction, both individual and small group, which parallels the general education curriculum.
  • Act as coordinator of IEP implementation with general education staff.
  • Develops appropriate IEPs based on students’ strengths and needs.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records, and prepare reports on children and activities, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Child development and characteristics of students in the age group assigned.
  • Current educational research. Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology.
  • Learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods to address student learning styles. Skill in oral and written communication with students, parents and others
  • How to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness.
  • How to assess levels of student achievement effectively, analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement.
  • How to maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn.
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology.
  • Learning styles and skills in using multifaceted teaching methods to address student learning styles.
  • Skill in oral and written communication with students, parents, and others.
  • How to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness.
  • How to assess levels of student achievement, analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement.
  • How to maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (required)
  • Teacher Certification from the Florida State Department of Education (required)
  • Reading Endorsement preferred
  • ESOL Endorsed preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Requirements

TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree of related subject from accredited university. Teacher certification from the Florida State Department of Education is required. Prior experience is preferred but not necessary for hiring.
