Report to: Director of Curriculum and Instruction
The Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Coordinator is responsible for supporting the effective implementation of the school's MTSS program that supports the whole child. The MTSS Coordinator will be responsible for collaborating closely with building administrators, educators, support staff, families, and scholars to establish and implement a tiered framework that uses data to meet the needs of each and every scholar through academics, behavior, social-emotional learning (SEL), and attendance interventions. The MTSS Coordinator will provide guidance across the school to ensure that research-based MTSS strategies, interventions, and systems are in place to support scholar achievement.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Master's degree in education, educational administration, counseling, social work, or related field preferred
- A minimum of three years of experience in educational administration
- Knowledge of the MTSS framework, positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), response to intervention (RTI), social-emotional learning (SEL), restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, and family engagement
- Ability to provide leadership and manage complex projects
- Ability to facilitate change management within individuals, teams, and organizations, including implementing professional learning for adult learners and staff development
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collect and analyze data to drive improvement
- Commitment to working with scholars from marginalized communities through an asset-based mindset and approach
Essential Functions
- Assist with facilitating problem-solving processes at school (e.g. developing agendas, monitoring established procedures, program modifications, identification of resources, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring quality programming for scholars with academic and behavioral needs in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
- Collaborates with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the purpose of facilitating MTSS professional development opportunities and training for staff.
- Collaborates and meets monthly with building administrators for the purpose of monitoring procedures and strategies, collecting and analyzing data, and measuring growth of scholars who do not respond to additional instruction at the universal level to determine Tier 2 or Tier 3 intervention needs.
- Develops a visual model and the vision of the MTSS process with the assistance of the administrators for the building (e.g. reading, math, written language, behavior, etc.) for the purpose of determining interventions, roles and responsibilities of staff, data and evaluation procedures to be utilized at each level.
- Facilitates communication to CEO and building principals on a quarterly basis, or as needed, for the purpose of providing current data and information to sustain an effective and efficient MTSS program within the district.
- Investigates and evaluates research-based interventions for the purpose of recommending programs and/or materials to be utilized in the areas of reading, writing, math, behavior, and attendance.
- Monitors identification of scholars who may require Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions at school for the purpose of assisting interventionists in data interpretations and grouping strategies to meet scholar needs.
- Provides progress monitoring (e.g. student needs, interventions, resources, etc.) for the purpose of measuring scholar growth in Tier 2 and Tier 3, and the effectiveness of interventions.
