Marketing and Communications: Operations Internship

Purpose: The Marketing Operations Intern will support the execution of marketing campaigns, focusing on strategy implementation, logistics, and data management. This hands-on internship offers valuable experience in marketing operations within a collaborative and mission-driven environment. The intern will work approximately 20 hours per week from June 2 to August 15, 2025, with expanded hours during Summit Week (August 4-8, 2025, up to 30 hours). This role includes mentorship and training from marketing professionals.

Global Leadership Network (GLN) is a nonprofit organization located in South Barrington, Illinois.  Our purpose is to introduce more people to Jesus and fully follow Him.  We accomplish this by serving pastors and equipping churches in order to inspire Kingdom-oriented leaders around the world through the Global Leadership Summit and other leadership development resources.

The Global Leadership Summit is attended by 60,000 leaders in 400 sites (primarily churches) throughout the United States.  The Summit is translated into 50 languages and held in over 800 sites in 110 countries reaching over 240,000 international leaders from September to April.

Hybrid Work Schedule: This position is remote. Local and some remote staff have a hybrid schedule which includes working in the office Tuesday through Thursday for two scheduled Core Weeks each month and the option to work from home or in the office on Mondays, Fridays, and Tuesday through Thursdays during non-Core Weeks.  Our regular workdays and office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm CT with 30 minutes for lunch.

Job Status: Internship, Part-time, 20 hrs./week, Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Reports to: Project Manager

Pay rate for this seasonal internship of 20 hours per week position is $16/hr. 

Benefits include paid time off in accordance with the Illinois PLAWA (Paid Leave for All Workers Act).  Time off may be subject to black-out dates during GLS peak season and subject to manager approval.

Internship Dates and hours specifically follow this schedule:

• June 2 – August 15, 2025: 20 hours per week
• Summit Week (August 5-9): up to 30 hours in person, approved travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with company policy.
• Actual hours may vary based on project workload

Primary Responsibilities:

Marketing Logistics & Coordination

• Assist in planning, organizing, and executing marketing activities leading up to the Global Leadership Summit.
• Help coordinate the flow of marketing tasks, ensuring deadlines are met.

       Data and Email List Management

• Update and maintain email lists, ensuring proper segmentation and accuracy.
• Pull and compile reports to track marketing campaign performance.
• Conduct routine data clean-up to enhance database integrity.

      Project and Creative Support

• Assist the Marketing and Communications Project Manager in managing project workflows in Monday.com.
• Support the design team with simple graphic design tasks (if applicable, based on skills).
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and team meetings, providing fresh insights.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the position’s manager.
• Actively participate in one-on-one meetings with manager, team meetings, all-staff meetings, and cross-functional meetings, as needed.

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Experience or willingness to learn project management software (Monday.com experience a plus).
• Familiarity with email marketing tools (ActiveCampaign experience a plus).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Excel/Sheets for data analysis).
• Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is a plus but not required.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with an eagerness to learn and contribute.

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:

• Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field (preferred).
• Experience with marketing, communications, or administrative support is a plus.
• A vital relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and an active participant of a local church that holds to a historic, orthodox understanding of biblical Christianity.
