MATH SPECIALIST

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Math Specialist will focus on enhancing the mathematical understanding of students that qualify for Tier III instruction in all grades served at GLCPS. This role requires a deep understanding of differentiated instruction, culturally responsive teaching, and effective strategies for fostering mathematical fluency.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Massachusetts licensure in Mathematics.
- Three years classroom experience
- Experience working with struggling students and knowledge of best practices in special education and multilingual education.
- Strong understanding of data-driven instruction and assessment practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Provide targeted Tier III instruction and support in mathematics to identified students ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
- Work closely with classroom teachers to develop and implement strategies that meet the diverse needs of students, fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Analyze student performance data, including MCAS and STAR Math, to identify learning gaps and monitor progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with faculty to design and refine math curricula that are engaging and accessible to all students, incorporating best practices in teaching multilingual learners and students with special needs.
- Provide training and resources for teachers on effective instructional practices for supporting struggling students in math.
Salary : $50,000 - $90,000
