Overview
We are building caseloads in various counties near and surrounding Wake County. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. This role is designed for individuals who have personal experience with mental health challenges or substance use disorders and are committed to helping others navigate their recovery journey. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will provide support, guidance, and encouragement to individuals facing similar challenges, fostering a sense of hope and empowerment.
Duties
- Provide one-on-one support to individuals in recovery, facilitating their personal growth and self-advocacy.
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques to assist clients during critical moments and help them develop coping strategies.
- Engage in motivational interviewing to encourage clients to set and achieve personal goals related to their mental health and well-being.
- Share personal experiences in a way that fosters trust and connection, demonstrating that recovery is possible.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals to create comprehensive care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Conduct group sessions focused on topics such as addiction counseling, behavioral health, and crisis management.
- Mentor clients in navigating healthcare systems and accessing necessary resources for their recovery journey.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress while adhering to confidentiality standards.
Experience
- Certification as a Peer Specialist is required.
- Previous experience in mental health counseling or social work is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with behavioral health systems and resources is highly desirable.
- Skills in crisis management and crisis intervention are essential for effective client support.
- Experience in mentoring or providing guidance within a recovery context is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with diverse populations are crucial for success in this role.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $17.44 - $19.41 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 20 per week
