Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with special education laws, including documentation and record-keeping.
- Ensure accurate attendance tracking and proper accommodations per IEP guidelines.
- Prepare reports, IEPs, 504s, audits, and student logs.
- Guide the development of individualized instruction methods.
- Oversee and adapt special education services, behavior plans, and assistive technology.
- Collaborate with the District Discipline Team to ensure fair disciplinary actions and interventions.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate special education programs with leadership.
- Investigate and resolve program-related emergencies and compliance issues.
- Provide training, coaching, and support to special education teachers and staff.
- Supervise staff schedules, performance, and time records.
- Conduct evaluations, address performance concerns, and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in hiring and recruitment when needed.
- Attend county, state, and district meetings to stay updated on policies and best practices.
- Maintain clear communication with leadership, administrators, and school personnel.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in special education or related field (or in process).
- Possess current Michigan teaching certificate (or equivalent) with a special education endorsement, or related special education support (i.e., School Social Work, School Psychology, Speech-Language Pathology, etc.)
- Supervisor, Administrator, or Director certification (or in process).
- Minimum of five (5) years of special education experience.
