The Competitive Intelligence Analyst (CIA) will conduct in-depth research and analysis of companies, sectors, geographic markets, competitors and partners using a comprehensive variety of software and online research tools. In this role you will provide insights that inform marketing, advertising, brand building, and sales strategies. The CIA will develop insightful and actionable intelligence to aid in strategic decision-making and drive business development in current, new, and adjacent markets. This role is dynamic, fast-paced, alternates between deep focus and high collaboration, and covers a broad range of strategic topics that are critical to our business in the health benefits, insurance and health benefits brokerage fields.
We are looking for someone who has experience using research findings or other data sources to make recommendations by evaluating new opportunities and conducting in-depth market, competitive, and partner analyses. This role is responsible for creating detailed profiles, SWOT analyses, and actionable insights by conducting market research, analyzing industry trends and news, regulatory changes, investor reports, and other intelligence gathering.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Through primary, secondary, and syndicated sources conduct market research, white space analysis, and competitive and partner intelligence initiatives.
- Monitor and track industry news and financials, investor reports and earnings calls, market developments, bureau of insurance filings, and regulatory changes affecting the competitive landscape.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive competitive profiles, including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT analysis).
- Work collaboratively to develop and maintain a comprehensive after-action review of bid opportunities and partner relationships.
- Support strategic planning, go to market strategies, and organic business development.
- Assist in the development of competitive positioning strategies and contribute to produce and market decisions based on intelligence findings.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
- Prepare detailed business cases, findings, and recommendations for presentation to executive management.
- Maintain a centralized repository of market intelligence for access within the broader organization to support sales and marketing efforts.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in market research, preferred.
- Knowledge of health insurance and employer-sponsored employee benefits, preferred.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and to respond to related follow-on questions.
- Proficiency in research methodologies, data analysis tools, and competitive intelligence platforms.
- Must be highly organized, able to independently execute projects, and able to prioritize project work.
- A strong orientation to detail with a keen sense of curiosity and passion for staying informed about industry trends.
- Passion for learning and market intelligence beyond information gathering
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, market research, health sciences, economics or related field preferred*.
- Experience with CRM systems and market research tools (Salesforce, Hub Spot, Zywave, LinkedIn, ZoomInfo, Hoovers, etc.).
- Highly knowledgeable of data analysis software (Tableau, PowerBI, SPSS, etc.).
- Proficiency in using Microsoft applications (e.g. Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
*Equivalent military service at E4 or higher is acceptable in place of a bachelor’s degree
Travel Requirement:
- Ability to travel overnight is not required.
- Prefer Eastern Time zone-based candidates, but open.
Compensation:
Two to 5 years of experience: $80,000 - $120,000
Tenured & knowledgeable: $110,000 - $140,000
Top tier talent: $150,000
