Responsibilities.
- Performs routine laboratory procedures to measure DNA/RNA concentrations, normalize DNA/RNA to set standards, and plate for sequencing, genotyping, or other protocols.
- Operates and maintains laboratory equipment needed to carry out research studies.
- Store and process clinical research samples including human plasma and brain tissue.
- Maintain thorough documentation of sample storage and processing to ensure samples are tracked correctly.
- Convey and discuss research results with team lab members.
- Prepare materials and equipment for experiments.
- Process and organize multiple samples simultaneously.
- Work with a variety of routine and specialized laboratory instruments and equipment in the laboratory.
- Ensure that all specimens and equipment necessary for experiments are available and in good order.
- Update and maintain written laboratory record of the work.
- Ensure that supplies and consumables are ready and on hand as necessary for maximum efficiency in the laboratory.

- Test new protocols and document results to assist in protocol development 5
- Monitor and inventory routine laboratory supplies; ensure that supplies are stocked and organized.
- Assist in troubleshooting and calibrating various laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Perform experiments on samples according to protocols.
- Record details of experimental procedures, results and protocols.
- Prepare accumulated data and conclusions for publication in professional journals.
- Perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
- Train new laboratory members in the correct use of equipment, application of techniques and laboratory protocols.
- Engage in problem solving as required to solve technical difficulties and to ensure steady progress, with a goal of providing high quality experimental data suitable for publication.
Qualifications.
- Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field required
- Experience with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office, including Outlook
- Proficiency in Pipetting
- Experience using Qubit or other tools to measure DNA concentration
- Experience with clinical sample handling and storage
