- Our client is seeking a seasoned Industry Technical Consultant to guide a new entrant into the co-location data center cooling market.
- This role requires an in-depth understanding of hyperscale and co-location data center operations, cutting-edge cooling technologies, and infrastructure reliability strategies.
- The consultant will provide technical expertise, strategic guidance, and actionable recommendations to enable the company to establish a competitive foothold in the data center cooling sector.
Strategic Market Entry Guidance:
- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify opportunities and challenges in the co-location data center cooling industry.
- Develop a strategic roadmap for market entry, focusing on cost, scalability, and energy efficiency.
- Provide insights into the competitive landscape, customer requirements, and emerging trends in hyperscale and co-location data centers.
- Advise on the design, development, and integration of advanced cooling solutions, such as direct-to-chip liquid cooling, immersion cooling, and modular cooling systems.
- Ensure solutions align with industry standards for reliability, sustainability, and energy efficiency.
- Identify and recommend innovative technologies to optimize performance, minimize costs, and meet evolving regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to evaluate data center designs, including mechanical, electrical, and structural components.
- Assess trade-offs between innovation, cost, and customer trust when integrating cooling solutions into facility offerings.
- Provide recommendations on retrofitting existing systems to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Guide the establishment of performance standards for cooling equipment, ensuring alignment with global operational requirements.
- Develop strategies to enhance equipment reliability, including proactive maintenance and failure root cause analysis.
- Advise on best practices for managing planned and unplanned maintenance activities in co-location data centers.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards, including BOCA, NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and ASHRAE guidelines.
- Provide expertise in sustainability and environmental impact considerations, such as refrigerant management and energy usage optimization.
- Work closely with capacity planning, business development, and service teams to align cooling solutions with customer requirements.
- Foster partnerships with equipment manufacturers and suppliers to drive product performance and reliability improvements.
- Support internal teams in developing technical competencies and operational excellence.
- 10 years of experience delivering data center infrastructure solutions, with a strong emphasis on cooling systems.
- Proven ability to evaluate and integrate advanced cooling technologies into data center designs.
- Expertise in the end-to-end lifecycle of product development for cooling solutions, including mechanical, electrical, and structural components.
- Experience balancing cost, quality, and reliability in product and system designs.
- In-depth knowledge of engineering and construction-related drawings and global building codes.
- 15 years of engineering experience, with a specific focus on data center design or construction.
- Hands-on experience in hyperscale and co-location data center operations.
- Knowledge of sustainable and energy-efficient cooling technologies, including emerging solutions for hyperscale computing.
- Certifications such as ASHRAE, CDCDP (Certified Data Center Design Professional), or equivalent.
