Pay Range : $100 - $115 / Hr
Overview
The Juno and Jupiter projects need additional PCIe gen 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 hardware, protocol, and firmware engineering expertise for timely delivery and customer support.
The contractor is an acknowledged PCIe generation 3-5 expert with activity on the PCIe generation 6 committees.
Solution Approach
The existing Jupiter product is targeted and sold to customers requiring up to PCIe generation 4 with down-generation support to Gen 1.
The upcoming Juno project extends the Jupiter project into the PCIe generation 5 and 6
The contractor will be hired as a contractor acknowledged as a PCIe Linux device driver expert with a focus on programs for one year.
Will work at the direction of the BSP manager and applicable team leads as staff augmentation on a team in all phases of development including design documentation, solution space exploration, identification of risks and solutions to the projects, product delivery, and customer support.
The contractor will also mentor current and future employees in world-class PCIe and adjacent technologies
Statement Of Work
Scope
BDN's Contractor will review the existing PCIe instrumentation integration into Systems. The contractor will compile the list of features, suggest a mapping, and identify the risks associated with the approach.
The contractor will work directly with the Board Support Package (BSP) team reporting to the BSP's team's manager and accepting the work direction of the assigned products' team leaders.
Contractor expertise in PCIe Hardware and software will be used to aid in the architecture and development of PCIe gen 1 through six capable instrumentation.
Roles and Responsibilities
BSP Team Manager
Central point of communication, conflict resolution, and issue escalation
Enable project success and on-time deliverables
Lead and motivate the project team members
Manage financials including hours and expenses versus budget
Manage scope and resources aligned with project milestones
Manage work plans, deadlines, and key milestones to be on time, on-budget
Organize, plan, and oversee all aspects of the project
Provide leadership for overall project and development teams
Hold weekly team meetings to discuss issues, weekly progress, and next steps
BSP Team Architect
Directly responsible for final implementation architecture and design decisions.
Will lead and motivate project team members on various instrumentation projects
Creates and leads issues, design, and architecture meetings as needed
Team Members
Carry out tasks within the embedded and system space for the Ultraflex family of systems
Share expertise in various domains
Review each other's designs and implementations
Suggest enhancements to the work at hand
Project Plan
The Juno project is entering phase 1 with demos for customers planned for mid and late 2025.
The precursor, Jupiter Project is currently exiting phase 4 and continues to serve as both an existing product and a refiner to Juno product requirements; as such it is expected that some time will be spent supporting this product as determined by our client's leaders.
The short-term plan is to set up travel for the Contractor to spend the first or second week onsite at the Minnesota Design Center (MDC) in Fridley Minnesota.
Project Deliverables
The company Engineer will augment the Project team to collaborate and understand exact deliverables.
Project Governance and Accountability
This engagement is staff augmentation with an option to hire.
The requirement is that the Contractor will work with the different engineers on various projects, especially requiring his PCIe expertise, to understand requirements and the development of deliverable software. If requirements are unclear or not understood, Eddie shall communicate with the engineer responsible in that area of functionality. If not available, or still unclear, the issue shall be raised to the Team Manager.
