What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Psychologist - School Year 2025-26 position at Global Village Academy?
Global Village Academy is an innovative charter school. Students learn core content through language immersion in their choice of French, Spanish, Mandarin, German or Russian (depending on the school). GVA is truly a "global village." Our immersion teachers come from all over the world, each bringing their unique culture and language into the classroom. United by a common core, students are challenged to become world class thinkers, capable of engaging ideas using multiple languages and cross-cultural perspectives, through internationally benchmarked curriculum spanning each language village.
The specialist in this position will conduct necessary testing for special education; participate in Child Study Team meetings; assist with behavioral and social issues; and other tasks per job description. The school is an immersion school, some bilingual experience preferred but not required.
Essential Duties
- Identifies and assesses the learning, development, and adjustment characteristics and needs of individuals and groups.
- Uses assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) in developing appropriate interventions and programs.
- Assists in early identification of students' learning and adjustment problems.
- Identifies student needs based on input from students, parents, and teachers.
- Conducts assessments appropriate to the focus of concern.
- Helps students understand their own learning needs and styles.
- Conducts individual and/or group counseling sessions that focus on improving educational progress and personal success.
- Intervenes with students in crisis situations.
- Evaluates effectiveness of individual and group interventions and modifies interventions based on data collected.
- Works with IEP team.
- Consults with teachers, other school staff, and parents about ways to facilitate learning.
- Considers both quantitative and qualitative measures for determining effectiveness.
- Delivers a planned and coordinated program of psychological services
- Plans, maintains, and/or participates in a system of accountability for services delivered.
- Maintains records, as well as, all services requested and delivered.
- Maintains a system of confidentiality for records and files.
- Provides written reports of services provided to students, parents, and school staff.
- Other duties related to job title as directed by Principal.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Master's degree in Psychology,
- A valid Colorado School Psychologist license.
- Colorado Department of Education Special Provider License - School Psychology.
- Experience in the administration and interpretation of a variety of test instruments to evaluate: cognitive ability, learning aptitudes, academic skills and eligibility for special education.
