Role Description

Full-time on-site role for a Maintenance Supervisor located in Sahuarita and Tucson, AZ area. The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for managing a team of dedicated employees with tasks such as preventive maintenance and upkeep on all of our water, wastewater and electrical equipment.

The Maintenance Supervisor directs the work of maintenance crews engaged in control system maintenance and repair of water and wastewater machinery and equipment. Responsible for making sure general and preventatative maintenance is performed on electrical controls, instrumentation, and equipment associated with all physical assets (such as water treatment facilities, water reclamation facilities, remote sites including wells, booster stations & lift stations, distribution, collections, and reclaim water lines).

  • This position seeks, organizes, and analyzes relevant maintenance, and operational data with the purpose of supporting the organizational business goals. This leadership position will implement solutions through direct reports, vendors, and special teams.
  • This position will set and maintain standards for asset data gathering for the Operations Department.
  • Performs moderate to difficult technical, electrical, instrumentation and mechanical work in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment and conveyance facilities.
  • Provides direction to peers and subordinates in performance of routine day-to-day work activities.
  • Conducts and administers all company work related efforts and activities within the rules, regulations and responsibilities of the most current company safety policy and OHSA regulation.
  • This position also provides technical and/or physical assistance to other operations personnel, contractors, developers and any other duties assigned.
  • Additionally, the Superintendent will be subject to on-call work, emergency call back work and subject to shift work that may include nights.
  • Is responsible for preparing investigative reports of accidents, incidents and injuries or must delegate these responsibilites to subordinate employees.
  • Develop, update, and implement operator training for process control and electrical and mechanic troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Schedules, supervises, and prepares performance evaluations of maintenance crew.
  • Participates in supplemental budget recommendations and projections.
  • This position provides insight to the company’s Asset Management Program and is an integral part of Operations.
  • Carries out an on-going inspection and preventative maintenance program to ensure adequate mechanical operation includes cleaning, adjusting, aligning, and lubricating equipment in compliance with preventative maintenance programs
  • Assures the quality of maintenance for the Department's water and wastewater infrastructure assets through use of maintenance and reliability planning and a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Assets include all production, distribution, collection, and water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Develops and implements a Utilities Maintenance and Reliability Plan (MRP) by defining the Department's goals, objectives, policies, and priorities. Establishes performance standards, procedures, and methods for the Department's MRP. Identifies.
  • Assists with repairs to pumps, motors, sludge centrifuge gear drives, mechanical screens, chlorinators, gas compressors, valves, blowers, booster pumps, well sites, and other types of equipment related to water or wastewater facilities. Completes assigned job specific training criteria and objectives. Operates mechanical equipment to diagnose problems and determine repairs as needed.
  • Supervises the ordering of materials and services needed to properly carry on the functions of the division; prioritizes workload for prompt completion of emergencies and unscheduled work requests. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service. Responds to customer complaints and requests for service.
  • Provides direction and clarifies routine day-to-day priorities in the field. Utilizes a variety of mechanical tools to fabricate, rebuild, strengthen, and maintain various parts and pieces of plant equipment.
  • Focuses on long-term maintenance issues. Assists in the resolution of long-term or repetitive technical issues affecting readiness and reliability of equipment. Manages, coordinates, and performs research on assigned problems and issues, collects and organizes the necessary data, analyzes findings, and develops reports and recommendations for changes to policies, procedures, and practices. Manages reliability and condition assessment activities associated with the equipment, structures, and systems. Develops preventative and predictive maintenance programs to increase reliability.
  • Performs skilled preventative maintenance and repairs on electrical and mechanical water and wastewater systems and equipment and enters information into Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Tests, troubleshoots, locates, calibrates, repairs and performs preventive maintenance on a variety of industrial electrical and electronic systems.
  • ADEQ Grade I Operator License in specific area of concentration; i.e, Wastewater Treatment, Water Distribution, Collections, or Water Treatment or ability to obtain within six months of employment is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of six years’ experience in a related field.

Physical Demands: Sitting for extended periods; prolonged periods of time with repetitive motions of hands and fingers; close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus; climb stairs, navigate uneven terrain; use fingers to grasp and move small objects; ability to hear and recognize sounds; able to react quickly using hands, fingers, or feet; able to utilize personal protective equipment as appropriate for safety. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds or more. Work is performed in an office and outdoors where the employee may be exposed to noise from construction site heavy equipment and inclement weather.
