Our client in Camden County, NJ, is seeking an experienced Director, Healthcare/Sciences to lead a multi-disciplined team to execute planning, new construction and renovation projects for healthcare and life sciences facilities. This leader must be accomplished in the design and project management for Acute and Ambulatory Care Health Facilities and both Academic and Corporate Research Facilities.
POSITION SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Director, you will play a pivotal role in building and nurturing client relationships, guiding projects from concept to completion, and leading a talented team of professionals. You'll excel in responding to RFPs, delivering compelling presentations, and representing the organization in project interviews. Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, you'll oversee project coordination, execution, budgeting, and team management, ensuring successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor your team, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment while ensuring seamless cross-discipline coordination.
- Uphold the highest standards of technical quality by managing the QA/QC process for your department, utilizing established forms and checklists, and documenting all reviews.
- Supervise direct reports and project engineers, conducting regular meetings to support and guide their work.
- Collaborate with management to effectively schedule project deadlines and allocate manpower for optimal results.
- Craft detailed bid proposals, contracts, and cost estimates, adhering to company standards and methodologies.
- Provide expert engineering guidance and innovative solutions in design, specifications, calculations, and project execution.
- Take a hands-on approach to project management, reviewing plans and timelines regularly to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget, adjusting resources as needed.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional responsiveness.
- Partner with fellow Department Directors to ensure efficient departmental operations and synergy.
- Work closely with the VP and President in hiring decisions, staff training, and mentoring, fostering professional growth within your team.
- Conduct performance evaluations and address any performance concerns with fairness and clarity.
- Collaborate with Accounting to ensure precise project accounting and adherence to financial protocols.
- Oversee departmental budget management and revenue forecasting, ensuring financial goals are met.
- Contribute to the department's marketing initiatives by leveraging your expertise to promote services and capabilities.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification
- 15 years of progressive engineering and managerial experience with a strong record of accomplishment in the design and project management for critical care facilities and laboratories
- Experience in the management and multi-disciplined team of MEP engineers and designers
- Expertise in multi-discipline engineering (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection).
- Proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical/IT systems design for healthcare and life sciences
- Strong project management skills with experience meeting deadlines
- Knowledgeable of local, state, and national codes (NFPA, Joint Meeting, FGI, AHJ)
- Experience with load analysis and energy modeling (eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR, Carrier HAP)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
- Familiarity with USGBC LEED standards (preferred)
- Strong financial management and business acumen
- Skilled in managing projects, internal and external resources, and workflows
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
