EXPERIENCED F5 NETWORK ENGINEER QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certifications
- Active TS/SCI security clearance
- Active network certification, such as Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Aruba Certified Switching Associate (ACSA)
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field like computer science OR equivalent work experience
Experience and Technical Skills
- 10 years of relevant IT experience
- 3 years of experience supporting DOD, DISA, or JSP network environments
- Experience troubleshooting, configuring, upgrading, and monitoring F5 load balancers
- Experience with network management and analysis tools like SNMP probes, NetScout, SolarWinds, etc.
- Expertise in managing Cisco and Juniper routers and switches
- Proficiency in network security, SDN, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, NTP, etc.
- Strong understanding of firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, and vulnerability remediation
- Scripting skills for automating administrative tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- F5 network certification
- Experience with Remedy ITSM, server operating systems (Linux, Windows, UNIX), and Visio for network topology documentation
- Experience working on proposals and supporting teleworkers and remote access technologies
A DAY IN THE LIFE
As an Experienced F5 Network Engineer, you expertly lead and oversee our core transport network engineering team in maintaining and enhancing our large-scale infrastructure. Our network supports over 8,000 devices, and you ensure we promptly respond to and resolve hardware and software issues. You guide your IT team in expertly troubleshooting, routing, switching, and monitoring network performance. Thinking analytically, you review processes and recommend enhancement strategies to clients and management. You also help guide business plans by evaluating applications, infrastructure, and cloud decisions.
You're the main point of contact for senior clients, and you regularly communicate with them to ensure we're appropriately meeting their IT needs. Following industry standards, you deploy hardware, develop installation and configuration procedures, and create automation solutions for migration and integration tasks. You collaborate with security teams to identify and fix vulnerabilities, maintain security clearance, and assist with special projects when needed.
