What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at GlobalEdge Technologies?
Seeking a Buyer with preferably electrical/technical/engineering products commodity experience in a manufacturing environment for a full-time contract position with benefits. The work hours are M-F 8:00AM-5:00PM. Some flexibility available to set the schedule.
The buyer will be responsible for planning and procuring necessary materials to manufacture products. This person will negotiate for and procure a variety of assigned commodities including those which are non-standard or of a technical nature. Develop suppliers to meet our delivery, cost and quality requirements.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Review purchase requisitions and requests to determine appropriate procurement methods.
- Identify potential suppliers and solicit bids or quotations for goods and services.
- Evaluate supplier proposals and negotiate terms and pricing to achieve the best value for the organization.
- Generate purchase orders and contracts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Monitor and track order status, expediting deliveries as needed to meet project timelines.
- Resolve issues and discrepancies with suppliers regarding pricing, quality, and delivery.
- Maintain supplier relationships and conduct supplier performance evaluations.
Skills Required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Proficient with use of MRP.
- Manufacturing Procurement Experience
- Negotiation skill with vendors
- Kanban
- Inventory and MPV forecast for financial planning
- Knowledge of procurement processes and best practices.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks.
Skills Preferred
- Experience with procurement software or ERP/MRP systems. Oracle desired.
- Familiarity with contract management principles.
- Knowledge of supply chain logistics and inventory management.
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM).
Education Required
- Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
Experience Required
- 1-3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or a related role.
- Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and processes
- Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings and specifications
Experience Desired
- Three years purchasing experience in electrical products, engineering/manufacturing products commodity.
- Experience using MRP/ERP system-ORACLE preferred.
