The following position is to join our RTX Enterprise Services team:
The Facilities Engineer- Electrical will be responsible for supporting facilities electrical design, electrical distribution, and construction project management.
The position will be based out of Marlborough Massachusetts, as well as supporting a site in Portsmouth Rhode Island with occasional opportunities to consult on projects within the NE region.
What You Will Do
- This position will be responsible for project estimating, load sizing, coordination studies, arch flash studies, development of construction drawings, preparation of bid documents and construction administration for office renovations, laboratory fit-ups and manufacturing equipment installations.
- Requires supporting a project from design, through the bid cycle, construction project management followed by project closeout.
- Project estimating, project scheduling, design of building electrical systems.
- Coordinate Electrical designs with other building design disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, structural, civil, IT, and security.
- Preparation of diagrams, sketches, construction drawings, cost estimates, bid documents and construction administration.
- Meeting with internal customers, developing continuous improvement projects, coordination studies and project management.
- Interface and coordinate projects with internal and external resources such as information technology, safety, security, internal construction trade workers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Qualifications You Must Have
- At least 5 years of prior relevant experience in building electrical engineering to include knowledge of the following:
- High, Medium and Low Voltage
- Primary and Secondary Power Multi-Frequency
- Power Grounding Solutions
- Load Sizing Control Systems and interlock systems
- Coordination Studies Lighting and Controls Lightning Protection
- At least 5 years experience with construction project management including customer scoping meetings, budget monitoring, establishing and updating schedules, contractor coordination, commissioning, and close-out.
- At least 5 years experience writing clear technical engineering specifications, reports and operating procedures
- BS Electrical Engineering, (BSEE) or related discipline and at least eight (8) years of prior relevant experience in building electrical engineering or an advance degree and 5 years experience in the absence of a degree a combination of education, applicable relevant experience and/or certifications in lieu of degree may be considered.MS Electrical Engineering a plus.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Working knowledge of SKM short circuit & arc fault analysis and feeder & transformer sizing. Experience with Design and Construction Project Management.
- Solid computer skills including proficiency with AutoCad, REVIT, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project Scheduler.
- Experience in Facilities Engineering, to include Familiarity with building electrical systems and general understanding of building construction and civil works.
- Experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS) and control systems such as: Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to interface and present to leadership, internal customers, information technology, security, construction trade workers and subcontractors.
