Summary
Reporting to the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, the Manufacturing Co-op will interact with internal project teams to understand contract requirements, design, and fabricate tooling and establish manufacturing processes that cost-effectively produce composite-based components.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Time is spent equally between a typical office environment and a manufacturing environment with no major sources of discomfort. Essentially normal controlled working environments with noise levels within acceptable safety limits and acceptable lighting and temperature conditions.

Reporting to the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, the Manufacturing Co-op will interact with internal project teams to understand contract requirements, design, and fabricate tooling and establish manufacturing processes that cost-effectively produce composite-based components.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Generate drawings, process sheets and travelers necessary for new/existing product manufacturing
- Responsible for documenting manufacturing processes for new products as well as existing processes and products.
- Responsible for the development of tooling and fixtures, manufacturing methods, non-standard tool selection
- Analyze and correct early stage manufacturing problems while working continuously on productivity improvements.
- Work with manufacturing teams to optimize the set-up process and reduce overall set-up and cycle time.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes to identify variables and factors that influence efficiencies and non-conformances.
- Support manufacturing teams in the Lean transformation by applying concepts discussed and trained while at Globe.
- Presentations to peers within the company may be required
- SolidWorks or other 3-D design software experience.
- Excellent communication skills and able to interact with diverse groups
- Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project
- Strong process engineering skills including: work piece control concepts, tolerance stacking, datum controls, and fixturing concepts
- Good working knowledge of machine shop practices and prior manufacturing experience with lower-volume, custom-molding applications is desirable
- Ability to read and interpret engineering instructions and blueprints
- Solid knowledge of geometric tolerances
- Ability to understand complex geometry, drawing requirements
- Knowledgeable of in-process inspection. Able to use &interpret precision measuring devices. (i.e., micrometers, verniers, hand tools &gages).
- Ability to move about a large manufacturing facility.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Constantly communicating with others to exchange information.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to wear PPE as necessary (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, etc.)
