Job Title: Electrical Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our rapidly growing Digital Health team.
About the Role:
You will work closely with a dynamic team of electrical, software, and mechanical engineers to conceptualize and commercialize innovative medical devices to meaningfully impact the lives of patients with musculoskeletal disorders.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background designing, building, and testing embedded electrical systems, including firmware design and development. This role requires a balance of creative thinking, analytical design, hands-on prototyping and testing, and systematic product development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and test connected embedded electrical systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards and performance metrics (e.g. Bluetooth, IEC 60601-1, etc)
- Lead the design, build, and test of microcontroller-based systems
- Translate product requirements into design specifications and verification tests
- Design PCBAs containing both analog and digital circuitry
- Develop and build test fixtures, test procedures, and test scripts
- Design, implement, debug, maintain, and modify firmware
- Work independently as well as on small teams using agile methodologies
- Collaborate with a team of electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to integrate system hardware and firmware into market-ready medical device products
- Evaluate real-world system performance with hands-on verification and validation testing
- Adhere to project timelines to deliver on-time designs, prototypes, test results, and documentation
- Contribute to the growth of Globus Medical's dominant intellectual property portfolio
Qualifications:
- BS in electrical engineering with 3 years of experience or MS EE with 1 years of experience
- Experience developing hardware and firmware for connected devices with wireless communication and sensor subsystems
- Experience with hands-on prototyping and debugging circuit boards
- Experience writing firmware in C or Rust
- Experience with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, RS-485, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and BLE
- Working knowledge of electrical schematics and PCB layout
- Ability to use Altium or equivalent for schematic capture and PCB design
- Proficient with electrical test equipment (e.g. multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
- Experience with circuit modelling software (e.g. ADS, LTspice, Pspice)
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Experience with wireless power transfer (e.g. inductive coupling, power harvesting) is a plus
- Familiarity with microelectronics packaging techniques (e.g. HIC, MCM, 3D-IC, wire bonding) is a plus
- Experience designing for medical device or active implant applications preferred
- Experience designing and testing according to industry safety/EMC standards preferred (e.g. IEC 60601-1, IEC 62368-1, or equivalent)
- Experience with Git source control and pull request processes is a plus
