CLIENT: Our client is a diversified talent and investment advisory firm, serving as a strategic partner and advisor to some of the most influential global talent across entertainment, sports, fashion, and music. Our client works with talent to enhance their brand, grow their core business, and expand their portfolio through strategic investments, new venture incubations, and acquisitions. They have in-house teams to support their talent on brand & strategy, marketing & creative, private deals & investments, ventures & incubations, and philanthropy.
ROLE: Our client is seeking a Director / Sr. Director / VP for their Portfolio Growth and Operating Team. This role reports directly into the SVP of Portfolio Growth and Strategy with significant visibility and exposure to the CEO.
LOCATION: In-office presence required; can be based in either Los Angeles, New York or Paris.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Business Incubation and Launch: Help to lead the development and launch of new business ventures aligned with our clients' brands, from ideation to execution. This includes: (a) helping to evaluate the concept, (b) developing a business plan, business strategy, and launch timeline, (c) competitive market assessment, and (d) partnering with the brand and creative teams to develop the brand and marketing strategy
- Strategic Growth Initiatives: Develop and implement value creation strategies for portfolio companies, including market expansion, product innovation, and operational improvements.
- Performance Monitoring: Oversee quarterly performance reviews of portfolio companies, ensuring alignment with growth objectives and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Turnaround Leadership: Design and execute turnaround plans for underperforming portfolio companies, driving operational and financial recovery.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Work closely with clients, leadership teams, and external partners to align business strategies with long-term goals.
- Innovation and Market Trends: Stay ahead of industry trends to identify new business opportunities and ensure portfolio companies remain competitive.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from top-tier institution strongly preferred
- 8-12 years of progressive experience across strategic consulting and operational roles
- Initial career foundation (2-5 years) at a top-tier management consulting firm, investment bank, or venture capital firm (e.g., McKinsey, Goldman Sachs, Sequoia)
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on operational experience in a high-growth startup environment, with demonstrable track record in:
- Driving strategic initiatives that resulted in significant revenue growth or market expansion
- Building and leading cross-functional teams through periods of rapid scaling
- Developing and implementing operational frameworks to improve efficiency and scalability
- Managing key stakeholder relationships across executive teams, boards, and external partners
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, and investing including strong financial modelling skills
- Strong strategic thinker and analytical problem solving skills
COMPENSATION:
- Target annual base salary of $200-300k
