General Purpose :

Responsible for the Logistics department and processes of GLOCK Inc. in Smyrna, GA

Shift(s) Available :

  • 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM, Monday through Friday

Supervisory Responsibilities :

  • Directly responsible for supervising the External Warehouse Supervisors, Materials Supervisor, and Supply Chain Logistics 1
  • and 2

    shift Supervisors.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include the following, other duties may be assigned) :

  • Is responsible for all inbound and outbound material flow processes with special focus on 100% reliability regarding customer delivery dates (external customers as well as internal customers = other departments)
  • Keeps the material or logistics services flowing smoothly especially for Assembly and Manufacturing but also for other goods like product replacements and spare parts for Technical Customers Services
  • Ensures that the inventory count of raw materials, consumables (incl. tools), supplies and spare parts is in-line with the goals provided by Planning as well as with the actual quantities reflected in the ERP system to support the Operations as well as all SG&A processes of GLOCK, Inc.
  • Takes responsibility for manual inventory counts on demand or as planned
  • Evaluates the overall logistics processes incl. warehouse / Kardex processes continually in order to implement faster and more efficient processes in compliance with our company goals and quality standards
  • Defines, implements and follows up on cost roadmaps for all logistics processes incl. warehouse / Kardex processes
  • Minimizes lead times for logistics processes incl. warehouse / Kardex processes in compliance with the company strategy
  • Takes responsibility for the logistics of product and material returns
  • Takes responsibility for all LEAN activities in his / her area of responsibility, especially for the sustainable execution of 5S principles (order and cleanliness) and continuous process improvement (stable processes) based on KAIZEN principles to achieve highest quality standards
  • Drives necessary information exchange and with other departments of the company
  • In consent with his superior, plans for, hires, fires, places, trains and develops staff and lead, challenge and motivate employees in his / her area of responsibility, performs employee evaluations, sets targets, plans for succession, completes qualification matrices and defines as well as ensures execution of development / continuing education / disciplining measures
  • Develops and controls the respective budgets for his / her area of responsibility
  • Ensures compliance with legal and company ordinances in his / her areas of responsibility
  • Ensures compliance to ISO-, OSHA- and Environmental Protection regulatory and ensures highest safety standards in his / her area of responsibility
  • Keeps his / her standard of knowledge up-to-date in his / her area of responsibility through continuing education measures.
  • Contributes to ongoing company development and increasing competitiveness independently and / or in conjunction with superiors; carries out corresponding activities in his / her area of responsibility and beyond; regularly follows up and reports about progress made
  • Is responsible for hiring, evaluations, and terminations; as well as determine shifts, as applicable

    Education and / or Experience Preferences :

    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from College or university, 3 years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

    At least 3 years experience leading Logistics departments with 20 employees, preferably in automotive, manufacturing and / or assembly operations and experience in optimization of logistics processes

    Knowledge in state-of-the-art ERP systems or CRM systems like MS Dynamics

    Project management, problem solving techniques, basic knowledge about process stabilization and optimization as well as lean manufacturing tools, HR tools, ISO 9000

    English, German or Spanish optionally.

The employee is regularly required to push a cart with an average weight of 260 lbs.

    Work Environment :

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is to work indoors in a climate controlled administrative warehouse office setting. The employee will occasionally walk back and forth from office to warehouses and other buildings. Work regularly scheduled shifts within normal hours of operation and may be asked to work overtime as needed. The noise level in the work environment is, depending on area, very quiet (office) or occasionally loud.
