Heavy Truck Technician Duties:
- Repairing Trucks right the first time.
- Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy.
- Performs all warranty and non-warranty inspection, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair work.
- Diagnoses the cause of any malfunction and performs repair.
- Must be able to communicate with vendors to order parts needed to complete the job, keep parts organized and paperwork straight to apply to each repair order.
- Communicates with managers to ensure that maintenance is being taken care of in accordance with Federal Laws and regulations.
- Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
- Communicate with the manager immediately if additional work is needed, if the work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
- Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
- Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Ensures that vehicle is kept clean.
- Keeps shop area neat and clean.
- Maintains and is accountable for all company-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Operates all tools and equipment safely.
Qualifications:
- CDL Recommended
- Prior experience as a technician
- Basic knowledge of Heavy truck electronic components, theory, systems, and testing tools procedures.
- Skill in diagnosing and repairing all key heavy truck systems and components.
- Knowledge of the proper procedures for using tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of proper procedures for handling hazardous materials.
- Ability to read and interpret R/Os
- Basic writing skills(to record work performed and recommended future service requirements on R/Os)
