SUMMARY
The Assistant Production Manager (APM) plays an important role in optimizing operations at Gloria Ferrer Winery. The APM responsibilities include timely procurement of packaging materials, data entry, inventory management, and fostering the professional growth of bottling and cellar team members. The APM contributes to monthly reporting, maintains records, and leads/participates in safety programs. Overall, the APM manages production processes and strives to achieve targeted metrics, enhancing efficiency and productivity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Management Duties
- Assigns daily tasks and monitors production outputs, ensuring adherence to departmental SOPs.
- Trains employees on the job and develops their skills to enhance productivity.
- Identifies areas of improvement and coaches team members for optimal performance.
- Assists maintenance in troubleshooting equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Communicates in a respectful manner, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Manages wine inventory movements, executing wine tracking updates from work orders.
- Maintains records as required by the Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) and creates bills of lading for outbound shipments.
- Performs Month and Year-end inventory of packaging materials, bins, barrels, bulk wine, and case goods.
- Participates in year-end audits, including inventory reconciliation.
- Conducts and leads monthly inventory meetings to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensures Food Safety, and Track and Trace Programs comply with regulations (HACCP) for quality assurance.
Procurement Duties
- Maintains supply models and projections to anticipate future demand accurately.
- Assists the Director of Winery Operations in ordering packaging supplies and managing inventories of these supplies.
- Responsible for verifying and approving purchase orders (POs) and invoices for materials and equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Provide support and guidance in the importation of glass and other critical packaging, ensuring smooth and timely processes.
Harvest Duties
- Manages the harvest team, prioritizing safety measures to ensure a secure working environment.
- Creates and implements a staffing schedule to optimize efficiency during the harvest season.
- Maintains grape daily entry records to track production progress and quality standards.
Finance Duties
- Conducts regular inventory checks for packaging materials and tirage inventory to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Manages the costing model for packaging materials, utilizing financial software to update and maintain records.
- Prepares and presents Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports to track financial performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Executes monthly closing entries to finalize financial records and ensure accuracy in reporting.
- Performs monthly inventory counts for packaging, bulk materials, and on-site tirage to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Updates and maintains costing model for packaging materials from financial software.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that the Gloria Ferrer Culture is consistently supported in all business and employee interactions. This includes ethical and legal behaviors, compliant with state and federal law and GF policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Preferred: 5 years of experience in wineries, demonstrating a deep understanding of winery operations and production processes.
- Advanced knowledge of packing, supply chains, and purchasing, acquired through practical experience and/or specialized education.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ranging from moderate to advanced skills, enabling effective data analysis and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability in resolution management, showcasing problem-solving skills and the capacity to address challenges efficiently.
- Proven track record of leadership skills, evidenced by successful management of teams and projects, fostering collaboration and achieving objectives effectively.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desired.

COMPENSATION
- $70,000 - $90,000 annual salary plus bonus, depending on candidate overall experience and qualifications
