Job Summary
As a seasoned Building Inspector, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service while working with contractors and the public to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform technical inspections of building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Conduct inspections for compliance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC), National Electrical Code (NEC), and other County codes and ordinances.
- Prepare and complete inspection reports and plans review checklists using electronic permitting systems.
- Provide expert advice on code-related matters to design professionals, contractors, builders, and private citizens.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical trades.
- Must possess ICC or DHCD certification in one trade area (building, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical) for both residential and commercial inspections.
- Combination Inspector must possess ICC or DHCD certifications as Combination Inspector One & Two Family Dwelling and Combination Inspector General.
