Description
Library Clerk-PT/ WAR (Work as Required) are scheduled to work as needed to include: nights, weekends and at both library locations.
Schedules are flexible with varying start & end times.
Under close supervision, performs clerical and technical work at the Circulation Desk to provide customer service to all library patrons. This position assists patrons in finding materials, checking out materials and computer usage. Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in all communication with library patrons.
Reports to designated supervisor.
Job Highlights
- Performs tasks at the circulation desks.
- Assist patrons with the use of computers and other equipment including copiers and printers.
- Assists patrons with the use of library databases, online search engines, printing of documents and setting up new email accounts.
- Answers phones, in-person reference questions, and provides light genealogical research assistance.
- Assists patrons with reader services and inquiries regarding various topics.
- Registers patrons for library programs.
- May operate a County vehicle to retrieve and distribute inter-office mail, deposit monies, and transport library materials and supplies between County libraries.
- Continues training to keep up with current library trends.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Possession of a high school diploma/GED.
One (1) year of experience in a customer service environment and some knowledge of Library services.
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
Special Requirements
- General knowledge of books, magazines and related materials available to the public.
- Duties are performed in an office environment at both the Gloucester County Main Library and the Point Branch Library locations. Consistent on-site and on-time attendance is essential for this position based on assigned schedule.
