RECREATION AIDE

Gloucester County is seeking dedicated Part-time applicants to join the Parks, Recreation & Tourism team as a Recreation Aide. This position is responsible for the implementation of social/recreational programs throughout the County to include day/evening trips for seniors.

Under general supervision, oversees the use of parks and community school facilities for recreational programs. Must have general knowledge of the standard practices used in athletics/recreational activities and general knowledge of the facilities and equipment needed in athletics and other recreation related programs.
Employee must follow school and departmental policies to ensure a safe environment for program participants, volunteers, and staff.
Reports to the Athletic Supervisor or other designated department staff member.
- Coordinate volunteers at events. Solicits assistance from volunteers to operate score clock, umpire or officiate games, etc.
- Communicates and publicizes to participants effective community use of parks and school facilities. Distributes information to participants, coaches, and parents/guardians of participants.
- Greets participants; responds to routine inquiries about departmental activities and services, and makes referrals, as needed.
- Interacts effectively with fellow employees, program participants, supervisor, school staff, professionals, and the general public.
- Conducts pre-game facility safety checks and prepares for activities, games, or practices.
- Conducts post-game maintenance on facilities including completing Outdoor Facilities Inspection List, when necessary.
- Moves equipment as necessary.
- Reports incidents and problems to supervisor.
- Performs first aid when necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Possession of a high school diploma/GED, preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with the public in a recreational setting preferred.
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Possession of, or ability to successfully complete within sixty (60) days of employment, Red Cross-approved course in First Aid and CPR. Must maintain certification while employed by the County.
Must be available to work Monday - Thursday evenings 6:00pm–9:30pm
Saturdays and Sundays between 8am-6pm
