Head Custodian I
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Specific knowledge of housekeeping and custodial equipment, materials and methods.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be physically able to efficiently perform the duties of the position. Any physical disability which would cause the candidate to be a hazard to themselves or to others is considered disqualifying.
- Ability to hear conversational voice, with or without hearing aid.
- Good vision, with or without glasses.
- Able to follow written or oral directions.

PM Custodial Supervisor/Facilities Supervisor/Principal
JOB GOAL:
To provide a safe, secure, clean, attractive place in which students may learn, play and develop.
ABILITY
- To operate common and specialized cleaning equipment and tools.
- To perform heavy physical labor, which includes lifting, pulling, pushing, and working off ladders.
- To use hand and small power tools to accomplish minor repairs and adjustments.
- To work without direct supervision; maintain schedules; set priorities; organize tasks; and coordinate and instruct work of others.
- To adhere to safety standards and practices, especially when handling and using chemicals.
- To maintain cooperative and productive working relationships through the use of courtesy and tact when dealing with others.
- To carry out complex and/or multiple tasks.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and walk for extended periods of time. There is bending at the waist, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, kneeling, crawling, and climbing ladders. Dexterity needed of hands and fingers to operate power cleaning equipment.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee works near moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally, cleaning products will have powerful odors. If not handled properly, the cleaning products can cause skin irritation and/or rashes.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the general supervision of the Facilities Supervisor and P.M. Custodial Supervisor, oversees and performs work required to maintain the building and grounds safe, sanitary and in an orderly condition. Performs a variety of custodial, grounds-keeping, minor repairs and related tasks associated with the upkeep of the facilities and grounds.
- Wears clean and appropriate uniform.
- Confers with and keeps supervisor informed on matters relating to the overall health, safety and operating condition of the building.
- Assumes responsibilities associated with maintaining the condition of the building in keeping with established standards of safety, sanitation and operating condition.
- Performs general site inspections; records and reports discrepancies; and generates work requests.
- Performs minor repairs of the type that common hand tools can be used.
- Performs outside services which include, but are not limited to, snow removal; flower beds; general lawn work; outside maintenance; and removal of debris from grounds.
- Directs, oversees and guides the work of their assigned custodians, including substitute personnel.
- Orders custodial supplies and controls use and storage of consumable supplies and materials.
- Maintains tools and equipment in the building, which are to be kept clean and in serviceable condition.
COMPENSATION :
As negotiated with the GTSPA
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
12 month
VACATION :
In accordance with GTSPA contract.
EVALUATION :
Performance of this job will be evaluated twice a year in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
