Summary
Direct and monitor the safe and efficient loading of vehicles onto railcars. Ensure all rail loading operations are performed in accordance with rules issued by the Association of American Railroads (AAR) and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), and Hyundai Glovis policies, procedures, and requirements.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Primary
- Prior to beginning any task: (a) conduct a hazard assessment of the work area (alerting management to any hazardous conditions found and work with management to resolve such conditions); (b) conduct appropriate reviews to ensure all supplies, fuel, tools, and equipment (including Personal Protective Equipment) are available and in good working order; and (c) conduct a Job Briefing to discuss the task to be completed, Team Member expectations, potential hazards, and applicable rules and safety measures.
- Ensure all Team Members are familiar with applicable safety policies and procedures (including appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment) and that such policies and procedures are consistently followed in all tasks, enabling Team Members to complete tasks correctly, efficiently, and safely; report any non-compliance issues to management.
- Maintain appropriate records related to the above activities including but not limited to training, attendance, inventory, and audits.
Secondary
- Prior to beginning any task, ensure all Team Members assigned to such task are properly trained and have the proper certification(s) to perform the task; alert management to any deviations or issues.
- Perform regular and impromptu audits of the Rail Team's operation and processes, documenting the results and sharing them with management to assist with ongoing rules and safety enforcement measures, evidence Team Member's commitment (or lack thereof) to application of rules and safety measures, and highlight exceptional application of rules and safety measures by Team Members to assist with recognition efforts and Team Member professional growth.
- Ensure work areas and equipment are kept clean, organized, and in good working order; report any broken or defective equipment to management.
Tertiary
- Send reports as directed by management.
- Apply disciplinary action and provide coaching to Team Members as needed.
- Other tasks as assigned by management.
