Position Overview:
As a Youth Mentor at Glow 414, you will provide consistent emotional, social, and practical support to your mentees. You will build trusting relationships through engaging activities, encouragement, and empowering conversations. This role requires commitment, empathy, and the ability to guide youth in discovering their strengths and resources. You will be expected to maintain clear communication with families, care coordinators, and Glow 414 management, while respecting confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain weekly contact with assigned youth and engage in meaningful activities to help expose them to new opportunities and experiences.
- Empower youth to resolve challenges and develop coping strategies for the future.
- Build a trusting and healthy mentor-mentee relationship through clear communication and setting appropriate boundaries.
- Acknowledge and encourage youth’s strengths, talents, and gifts.
- Actively listen to youth, offering support and encouragement without giving unsolicited advice.
- Maintain confidentiality of participants.
- Communicate effectively with the family, Care Coordinator, and Glow 414 Management.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience working with youth (required).
- License/Certification: Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle with insurance (required).
- Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to provide emotional, social, and practical support within established limits.
- Ability to set boundaries and recognize the strengths of each individual.
- Successful completion of a background check.

- Weekends as needed
