Job Summary : We are looking for a skilled and reliable Central Office Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with optical systems, fiber optics, power management, rack and stack processes, signal flow diagrams, and Maintenance Operation Procedures (MOP). Exposure to Ciena devices will be a significant plus. The technician will play a key role in ensuring the efficient installation, maintenance, and operation of telecommunications equipment within the central office, contributing to the reliability and performance of our network infrastructure.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
- Proven experience as a Central Office Technician, Network Technician, or a similar role with a focus on optical and fiber optic networks.
- Experience working with power systems, including backup power sources and power distribution equipment.
- Strong understanding of rack and stack processes for hardware installation.
- Knowledge of signal flow diagrams and the ability to use them for troubleshooting and planning.
- Familiarity with Maintenance Operation Procedures (MOP) and adhering to industry best practices.
- Ability to read and understand network schematics and technical documentation.
- Exposure to Ciena devices (e.g., routers, switches, and optical equipment) is highly preferred.
- Previous experience in a data center environment, including managing installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment such as servers, switches, and routers.
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including cooling systems, power distribution, cable management, and rack configurations.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in high-density, mission-critical environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- 100% Travel Role : Must be able to travel up to 4-6 weeks at a time, working in various locations across the country.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various locations as needed.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in physically demanding environments.
