Position Title: Telephone Switch Cutover Specialist
Entity: Glow Networks, Inc.
Classification: Non-exempt, Contract
Location: REMOTE
Pay rate: $50 - $55 p/h, W2, No Benefits
Reports To: Project Manager
Working Hours: Day shift and maintenance windows
Summary: Glow Networks seeks Cutover Specialists with DMS and 5ESS translations experience to perform legacy switch migrations to Ribbon G5/G6 VoIP solutions. Cutover Specialists must understand connectivity, mirroring, and how to resolve switch translations. We are very interested in candidates with Ribbon G6 experience.
Hiring Manager Special Interest:
DMS or 5ESS Translations Engineer experience required
Ribbon G6 experience highly desired
Must have a solid understanding of legacy telephone switch architecture and migrations
Must be familiar with Telcordia Central office equipment installation and removal requirements for installing and removing equipment in legacy and VoIP environments
Must have mastery of CLI and TL1 commands for legacy switches
Must be familiar with Telnet, Putty terminal emulators
Must be familiar with LERG, and how to use it to verify translations
Legacy switch to VoIP migration and cutover experience is required
Must be able to follow MOPS
Experience with Ribbon G5 Gateway and G6 VoIP Switch is a bonus
Project training is planned to start mid-DEC, main deployments are planned to begin mid JAN 2025, dates subject to customer approval.
Essential Functions:
Migrate legacy DMS and 5ESS switches to Ribbon G5/G6 VoIP switches
Follow MOP to conduct cutovers and perform DMS and/or 5ESS switch migrations
Document work is performed per customer standard requirements.
Other Functions:
Complete all training as required by Ribbon
Read and understand Scope of Work (SOW) and Memorandum of Procedure (MOP)
Must be familiar with and be able to comply with standard Telephone Central Office protocols.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Work will be performed on various Telephone Central Offices (CO)
Work may be done on-site or remotely
Work will be performed during the daytime and at night during maintenance windows
Required Education/Experience and Competencies:
High School Diploma or GED is required.
Must have cutover experience with NORTEL DMS, Lucent 5ESS, or similar switches
Experience with installing and commissioning Ribbon G5, G6, C20 equipment is highly desired
Experience with implementing and following MOPs
Must have experience with DMS and/or 5ESS switch translations
Must be familiar with provisioning orders, LERG and cutover fault isolation process and procedures.
Must have higher level English language comm skills to communicate clearly and concisely with other team members.
Maintain a positive attitude and work as a contributing team player.
Able to work day shift and night-time maintenance windows, as required.
