POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Silver Sneakers Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping older adults improve their health and wellness through fun and engaging exercise classes. You will be responsible for planning, leading, and instructing Silver Sneakers classes, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all participants in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Silver Sneakers classes are Monday through Friday at 10:00AM.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals. Ensure participation, retention and enrollment growth.
2. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
3. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA. Be friendly, alert and responsive to participants.
4. Keeps accurate class attendance records.
5. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Successfully completes Child Abuse Prevention and Employee Sexual Harassment training as a requirement of employment.
2. Required certifications: CPR with AED and First Aid within 60 days of employment.
3. Must obtain Silver Sneakers Tivity Health instructor certification through this website instructor.tivityhealth.com.
4. At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Ability to conduct classes and activities along with set up and tear down.
2. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
