Location : This role is based at Glowbar's headquarters in New York City with a regular in-office presence and occasional in-person presence at our Studios, which may require travel outside of the New York City area.
Reporting Structure : This role reports to the VP of Studios and has two direct reports : HRBP (generalist) and a Recruiter.
Role :
Glowbar is looking for an experienced Director of Human Resources, reporting to the VP of Studios. In this dynamic role, you will balance strategy and execution, focusing on meeting the HR and talent management needs of our growing network of studios. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with studio leadership and the senior leadership team to enhance recruitment, onboarding, and team member development. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a high-growth environment, bringing expertise in HR operations, multi-unit talent management, and scalable processes. Key Responsibilities
Talent Management & RecruitmentPartner with the VP of Studios and studio managers to implement effective HR strategies aligned with business goals.Develop and standardize scalable recruitment practices, particularly for new studio openings, ensuring roles are filled efficiently and effectively.Create and deliver engaging training programs to develop studio teams, focusing on role-specific competencies and career growth opportunities.Develop and implement targeted retention programs at the studio level, fostering team engagement, reducing turnover, and building a strong, committed workforce.Talent Development (Learning & Organizational Development)Design and implement leadership development programs to prepare high-potential employees for future growth opportunities within the organization.Build and maintain learning paths for studio employees, with a focus on career progression and skills enhancement.Introduce and manage mentoring or coaching programs to encourage peer learning and professional growth.Collaborate with studio leaders to conduct skill gap analyses and design targeted learning initiatives to address key development areas.Partner with senior leadership to create a culture of continuous learning, utilizing a blend of in-person training, digital learning platforms, and experiential development.HR Operations & Employee RelationsProvide guidance to studio managers on employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with policies and alignment with company values.Maintain HR analytics to forecast talent needs, measure recruitment success, and improve retention.Ensure compliance with labor laws and HR best practices, maintaining fair treatment and inclusivity at all levels.Compensation, Benefits, and Total RewardsAdminister employee benefits programs, including health insurance, and wellness initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and employee needs.Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement a competitive total rewards strategy, supporting a pay-for-performance culture.Partner with finance and leadership to prepare staffing budgets and projections, ensuring alignment with business growth plans.Performance Management & Organizational DevelopmentLead performance management efforts, including goal setting, mid-year reviews, and recognition programs, fostering a culture of accountability and growth.Support studio leaders in building role-based competencies and career pathways to enable internal promotions and professional development.Collaborate with studio operations to refine HR tools, resources, and training materials to support studio leaders effectively.Qualifications
8 years of HR experience, with a focus on multi-unit operations, recruitment, and employee relations.Proven experience supporting hourly / non-exempt teams, preferably in a retail or service industry environment.Demonstrated success in creating scalable HR processes for growing businesses.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization.Expertise in benefits administration and total rewards strategy development.Familiarity with state and federal labor laws and compliance requirements.HR certifications (e.g., SPHR, SHRM-CP) are a plus but not required.Salary : $150k-$175k
