Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, resourceful, and compliance-driven Entry Writer to join our growing logistics and customs brokerage team. This individual will play a key role in facilitating the smooth importation of goods by preparing and submitting accurate documentation to U.S. Customs and other government agencies. The ideal candidate is a problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a working knowledge of import regulations — including FDA, USDA, CBP, and other Partner Government Agencies (PGAs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit timely and accurate import documentation (Customs entries, PGA forms, etc.) in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Review commercial documents (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading) to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and determine proper duty rates and regulatory flags.
- Communicate with clients, carriers, and government agencies to resolve shipment issues and ensure timely clearance.
- Monitor and track entry status, proactively addressing delays, holds, or additional requests from agencies.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. import regulations, including FDA, USDA, EPA, and others.
- Maintain and update internal systems with entry data and shipment history for recordkeeping.
- Collaborate with sales, operations, and client services teams to improve overall process efficiency and client satisfaction.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 1 year of experience in an Entry Writer, Import Coordinator, or related role preferred (but we will train the right candidate).
- Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations and familiarity with HTS classification.
- Knowledge of Partner Government Agencies (PGAs), including FDA, USDA, and EPA, is a strong plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly and work under pressure.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with logistics/Customs software systems (e.g., ACE, Descartes, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
