Description
This is a full-time position, and the employee receives all the benefits afforded to regular employees. The work schedule is 56 hours per week, and the hours may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Summary: This classification aims to respond to fire/medical emergency calls for protecting life and property, control and extinguish fires, perform search/rescue, and provide emergency medical care to sick/injured persons.
Essential Job Functions: The following duties are typical for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Responds to emergency calls for fire suppression, medical assistance, hazardous materials incidents, motor vehicle accidents, and other emergency situations.
- Maintains stock of equipment and supplies on fire vehicles, emergency squads, and fire stations.
- Protects life and property. Suppresses, controls, and extinguishes fires.
- Drives, operates and monitors a variety of fire and emergency vehicles and emergency medical equipment.
- Administers first aid, artificial respiration, life support, or other medical care according to level of certification.
- Provide advanced emergency medical care to sick/injured persons. This may include advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), basic trauma life support (BTLS), pediatric care, and/or advanced airway management.
- Assesses nature and severity of illness/injury and identifies life-threatening problems; determines/prioritizes appropriate medical treatment/procedures; assesses the status of patient’s neurological system, cardiovascular system, circulatory system, skeletal system, motor and sensory skills, and level of consciousness.
- Prepares and completes various forms and reports.

Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Must be 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and complete a physical evaluation battery (PEB) based on NFPA 1582 standards. Must possess and maintain valid Georgia Paramedic Certification. Must have completed the NPQ Firefighter I Certification written and practical testing conducted by the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council and the Georgia Fire Academy and met guidelines established in NFPA 1001 Firefighter Professional Qualifications, Chapter 4. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license from the state of residence. Possess strong physical stamina and agility.
Pay is based on years of experience and certifications.

Salary : $53,736 - $64,165
