CNC Programmer – Onsite
Job Overview
GM Performance Power Units is seeking a highly skilled CNC Programmer to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate is a manufacturing professional with a passion for working with extremely tight-tolerance applications utilizing the latest technology and processes. This role is critical in ensuring the production of high-quality components for our performance power units.
Primary Responsibilities
- Program CNC manufacturing equipment to produce components meeting the highest quality standards.
- Create comprehensive tool lists, in-process documentation, and set-up sheets to assist technicians in efficiently running jobs.
- Collaborate closely with the quality inspection group to make necessary machine adjustments for bringing parts into specification.
- Maintain meticulous records related to post and tool database modifications.
- Interpret technical blueprints and designs to understand part specifications and requirements.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials onto machines.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- Certificate in machine shop technology or machine tool technology/machinist.
- Minimum 5 years of practical working experience in the manufacturing/metal-cutting industry.
- Strong experience with computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software, preferably NX and/or Mastercam.
- Recent experience and knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, and other CNC controls.
- Advanced understanding of CNC machining processes, materials (metals), cutting tools, and macro programming.
- Experience with simultaneous 5-axis machining and mill-turn style machines.
- Familiarity with CNC probing routines and usage.
- Thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- Strong background in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Proficiency in mathematics and data analysis.

- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with engineering and other teams.
- Strong attention to detail and a 'can-do' attitude.
- Motivated self-starter with critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent technical writing skills for creating documentation.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Capability to lift heavy objects when necessary.
