Health & Safety Engineer
Job Overview:
GM Performance Power Units is looking for a Health and Safety Engineer to join our dynamic team in Concord, North Carolina. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with environmental health and safety regulations while promoting a safe workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with leadership to update safety policies in line with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant guidelines.
- Manage hazard communication programs, Safety Data Sheets, and inventories.
- Oversee waste management programs and assist in filing EHS permits.
- Conduct job hazard analysis and assess personal protective equipment needs.
- Develop training materials and conduct EHS training sessions.
- Lead incident reviews and root cause analyses to enhance safety practices.
- Support emergency response teams and conduct safety drills.
- Perform regular EHS audits and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Safety, or a related field.
- Professional certifications (CIH, CSP) are preferred.
- 1-4 years of experience in health and safety roles; 5-10 years without certification is acceptable.
- Strong communication, organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience:
- Familiarity with EHS regulatory agencies (EPA, OSHA).
- Knowledge of hazardous materials management.
- Experience with hazardous waste management practices.
