Position Overview
Within the Pricing and Corporate Actions team, the analysts focused on corporate actions oversee the entire lifecycle of all corporate actions for GMO’s funds and separately managed accounts. From announcement to accounting entries, the team coordinates with internal and external parties to ensure accurate reflection and timely processing of both mandatory and voluntary corporate actions. The Pricing and Corporate Actions Analyst supports all functions related to corporate actions, while also partnering with analysts within the team focused on pricing. The analysts focused on pricing are responsible for providing timely and accurate valuations across all securities held within GMO. Analysts within the Pricing and Corporate Actions team are uniquely positioned to gain exposure across multiple asset classes ranging from equities and futures, fixed income, listed and unlisted derivatives and complex OTC instruments.
Responsibilities For Corporate Actions
This salary range is estimated for this role and actual pay may be different based on a candidate’s qualifications and/or years of experience. In addition, this position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus award, which award may be determined by individual, team, department and firm performance, and is subject to the terms of GMO’s compensation plan. This position is also benefits eligible. Responsibilities For Corporate Actions
- Manage all corporate actions activity for all accounts/funds.
- Notify Portfolio Managers/Trading groups of all corporate action activity pertinent to the investment process.
- Respond to custodians on behalf of all funds for voluntary corporate actions.
- Review and initiate any ideas necessary to improve processes within the group.
- Ensure securities involved in, or resulting from, corporate actions activity are valued correctly.
- Provide observations and recommendations to respective Portfolio Managers and Trading groups where applicable.
- Strong analytical skills – the team is not expected to be data aggregators but rather analysts capable of understanding complex instruments and explaining and/or resolving exceptions.
- Uniquely positioned to gain exposure across multiple asset types ranging from equities and futures, fixed income, listed and unlisted derivatives and complex OTC instruments.
- Because the group analyzes multiple asset classes, the analysts interact with a range of divisions throughout the firm including the investment teams, fund treasury and tax, as well as legal and compliance, which positions the analyst to gain significant industry and firm specific knowledge and interaction.
- College degree, prior financial industry experience a plus.
- Corporate Actions and/or Pricing experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative member of a team.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail – the day-to-day responsibilities will require focus and dedication to problems; ownership is the key and issues must be resolved in a timely manner.
- Must be able to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks and daily deadlines.
